Logan S. James

I research animal communication from a comparative perspective, investigating cross-species patterns in sound sequencing, auditory cognition, acoustic preferences, and vocal interactions. This includes work on song structure in birds, neural mechanisms of production and perception in frogs, developmental experience in bats, preferences of sounds in humans, and dyadic interactions of songbirds. I received my PhD in Biology from McGill University, have conducted post-doctoral fellowships at UT Austin and STRI, and am currently a postdoctoral fellow at McGill University and research associate at UT Austin, partially funded by the Earth Species Project, a research nonprofit.
