Lucinda is a GP, public health doctor and researcher whose career spans clinical practice, public health policy, and academic research. She is a Clarendon Scholar currently pursuing a part-time DPhil at Oxford University, where she researches the impact of austerity on health outcomes in the UK since 2010. She has published widely, including contributions to the Lancet, the BMJ, and the Guardian, and has served as a commissioner on the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Future of the NHS Commission. In recognition of her contributions, Lucinda received the BMJ "Get Up Stand Up" Award in 2022 for her efforts to improve health for people and the planet. Her academic journey includes a Master of Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where her thesis on austerity and health garnered international media attention. In 2025 she was elected to Honorary Membership of the Faculty of Public Health for services to public health.
Qualifying as a GP, Lucinda worked in NHS primary care services in London and volunteered with Doctors of the World UK where she became health advisor and clinical lead for policy. During the COVID-19 pandemic she worked in services providing care to vulnerable populations. Her international experience includes working with Médecins Sans Frontières in Jordan and Uganda, and with Primary Care International in a variety of locations across Central Africa and the Middle East. As a research fellow with Lancet Migration and an honorary research fellow at her alma mater, she furthered her expertise in universal healthcare. In 2022, she joined the WHO Romania Country Office to support the healthcare response for Ukrainian refugees before serving as a technical advisor in the WHO HQ Department of Health and Migration.
