I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Marist University. My research engages debates that straddle Africanist political science, critical development studies and history. My broader research and teaching interests include African politics (with a focus on East Africa), the political economy of development and state-building, youth politics and a critical and comparative assessment of democracy and its discontents in the Global South, with a focus on the political phenomenon of populism.
