Mahdi Gheitasi

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning and a Master’s degree in Urban Design. I have a Ph.D. in City, Territory and Sustainable Planning, which defended ,grading Cum Laude and International Mention.
I have been awarded several competitive pre-doctoral and mobility grants supporting my research and training. These include the Ayudas para contratos predoctorales para la formación de doctores/as from the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (Spain), held at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Faculty of Tourism and Geography, Vila-Seca) for the period 2022–2026 (PRE-2021-098679). I also received FPI travel mobility grants from the same ministry and a Mobility Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, enabling short research stays at the IDEC Institute and the University of Turku during 2023 and 2024.
Regarding the contribution to society and knowledge transfer, I have gained professional experience in urban planning and project management through positions in both public and private sectors. I worked as an Urban Planner at Khane Shahr Kashane, Tehran, Iran for one year (2017–2018) and at Doragh City Council in Iran for three months (2015), contributing to urban research and planning initiatives. Additionally, I served as a Project Management Specialist at Fereshtegan finnancil institution, for six months in 2018, where I managed and coordinated project activities. In addition regarding to the teaching, Since 2023, I have been teaching the master’s course “ Analytical Tools Applied to Environmental Engineering”, initially as a teaching assistant and, since 2024, as a lecturer, providing students with hands-on training in analytical methods. I have also contributed to the creation of research datasets and I have also been part of the organizing team for the final seminar of the RESTAURA project.
