Makarius is a Lecturer in Archaeology currently teaching at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. He earned a Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology at the University of Calgary, Canada in 2019. He got his first degree in Archaeology and History from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2007, and a Master's degree in Archaeology from the same university in 2013.
