Maria Zozaya-Montes

Maria Zozaya-Montes studied History at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). With the best results, she received the BA University prize of the Academic year (UCM, 1999) and the PhD Extraordinary Prize of the Complutense for a doctoral dissertation in History (UCM, 2009). She has received other awards: the Real Maestranza de Caballeria de Ronda Prize (RMR, 1999); the Spanish Social History Society Research Prize (AHS, 2007); Villa de Madrid Award Antonio Maura (2008), which also awarded her with honours the year before (2007).

Between 1998 and 2008, she obtained several research grants (FPI-CAM; I3p-CSIC; Caja-Madrid Foundation) all held at the CSIC (National Council for Spanish Scientific Research, IH, Madrid). She had a Juan de la Cierva senior research contract to investigate at Valladolid´s University (Spain, 2008-2011). She worked as a researcher at Évora University (CIDEHUS), with a Post-doctoral Grant in 2013 and a research contract in 2019, both sponsored by the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology.

She has written five books (CM 2002; Catarata 2007; Fundac Laz. Galdiano 2008; UCM 2009, Siglo XXI 2016) 20 articles, and 20 chapters in specialised monographs and coordinated the collective book De la Sociabilidad al Patrimonio (Comares, 2023). She has given many conferences about sociability spaces. She edits eight OpenEdition sites about sociability, arts, cultural heritage and collectiveness to promote knowledge transfer. She was the curator of the exhibition "Material Culture of Iberian Associations" (https://socyhume.hypotheses.org/6119) and the director of the documentary "The Cultural Heritage of Sociability" (https://sociabilidad.hypotheses.org/2802). Also, as co-director of the Film Festival of Cultural Heritage Heritales, she received the HIM21 Heritage in Motion Awards at the European Summit of Cultural Heritage 2021 (Europa nostra &Europeana).
Since 2013, she has worked for the Foundation of Science and Technology of the Portuguese Republic, with a Research Contract to research and teach at Évora University, CIDEHUS. https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0737-1843
