Mark Spears

Dr Mark Spears is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Dundee and a Consultant Respiratory Physician at NHS Tayside, based at Perth Royal Infirmary. He specialises in complex respiratory medicine, with a particular focus on interstitial lung disease (ILD), advanced asthma therapies, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Dr Spears actively bridges the gap between clinical practice and academic research, serving as a principal investigator on numerous clinical trials aimed at improving patient outcomes in chronic lung conditions. His work is widely published in leading medical journals, and he regularly contributes to the development of regional thoracic medicine guidelines. Dr Spears holds an MD from the University of Dundee and continues to dedicate his career to advancing respiratory research and medical education across Scotland.
