Matt Walsh is the head of the School of Journalism, Media and Culture at Cardiff University. He has been an academic since 2014, specialising in broadcast and digital news and researching the political use of social media. Before becoming an academic, he was a working journalist for more than 20 years. He was a reporter, producer and editor at the BBC, ITN and Al Jazeera. During his career, Matt covered major international stories such as 9/11 and the Iraq war.
