Matthew Currell

I am a Professor in the Australian Rivers Institute, Griffith University in Queensland.
My research focuses on using environmental tracers in hydrogeology, to understand the controls on groundwater quality and quantity in aquifers and their connected springs and surface waters. My work seeks to work collaboratively with custodians of Australia's groundwater and connected surface water systems to ensure the important values these waters sustain can be protected and enhanced in the face of multiple threats (e.g., climate change, pollution and resource development). I also have a particular interest in water pollution and other environmental issues in China, and am a fluent speaker of mandarin. I am involved in collaborative research with many people and organisations in Australia and Asia.
