Matthew Large

I am a Conjoint Professor in the Discipline of Psychiatry and Mental Health at the University of New South Wales and the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, and a senior staff specialist psychiatrist and Medical Superintendent of Mental Health Services at the Prince of Wales Hospital. I have been a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists since 1995. I have worked in general hospital, emergency, inpatient, and outpatient mental health settings in the public and private sectors. I have research interests that include suicide, homicide, the medical causes of mortality among hospital-treated mental health patients, substance abuse and psychosis and have authored over 300 papers or book chapters. I am recognised internationally for my critique of suicide risk assessment and for a 2011 outlining the earlier age of psychosis associated with cannabis use.
