Prof. Liptovszky is Professor of Practice and Head of Division of Population Science at the University of Nottingham, School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. His scientific work primarily focuses on wildlife health, welfare and conservation. Prior to this position he worked in a number of European, UK and Australian zoos both as a zoo and wildlife veterinarian and in different leadership roles. He worked in a wide range of field conservation and research projects in Europe, the UK, Asia, Africa, Central America and Australasia. He graduated as a veterinary surgeon, and also earned a diploma in wildlife management during his studies. He holds a master in exotic animal medicine, an MSc in science communication and is a European and RCVS recognised specialist in zoological medicine. He is the veterinary advisor of the European Association of Zoos and Aquarium's Western lowland gorilla EEP.
