Maxine Whelan

Dr Maxine Whelan is an Assistant Professor in the Centre for Intelligent Healthcare at Coventry University. After conducting her PhD at Loughborough University focusing on physical activity and public health, Maxine joined the University of Oxford to assess the feasibility of a multi-component digital self-management tool to support patients with COPD hospitalised for an acute exacerbation.

Now based at Coventry University, Maxine's research interests focus on the development and evaluation of digital health interventions for people living at risk of, or with a diagnosis of, long-term conditions and the promotion of physical activity. In particular, she is interested in how we can make feedback more meaningful and potent for positive behaviour change. To deliver meaningful research that positively impacts health outcomes, Maxine enjoys working within multi-disciplinary teams including healthcare professionals, psychologists and engineers. She currently supervisors two PhD students focusing on university student mental health and wellbeing.
