Meg Parsons

An Aotearoa New Zealand historical geographer, of both Māori (Indigenous) and Pākehā settler (European) heritage, whose work examines the intersecting impacts of colonisation on Indigenous and settler societies, with a particular focus on the resulting social and environmental changes on Indigenous peoples in Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and the Pacific. Current research examines the different ways in which Indigenous people are seeking to maintain and reassert their Indigenous knowledges, governance and environmental management to address multiple forms of injustices, as well as efforts by Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups to be included in climate adaptation planning and actions in Oceania.
