I am a historian of Roman art and architecture. My work explores questions concerning the role of religious architecture in the construction of imperial power; architectural absence and its impact on urban identity; the aesthetic, political, and economic foundations of architectural canon formation; and the reception of Roman architecture in the 19th and 20th centuries.
