Michael T. Schmitt

Prof. Michael T. Schmitt was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He received his PhD from the University of Kansas, where worked with Nyla Branscombe on the Rejection-Identification Model, and more generally on the psychological implications of group-based privilege and disadvantage. Since 2005, Michael has worked at Simon Fraser University, where he is now a Full Professor. Michael’s current work applies a social identity lens to climate change and other environmental problems. His work is also influenced by critical social psychology. Michael enjoys playing the ukulele and reading sci-fi.
