Michelle Tye is an Associate Professor and Program Head of Youth Suicide Prevention at the Black Dog Institute, Australia. She leads a multi-disciplinary program that aims to improve the prevention and treatment of self–harm and suicidal thoughts and behaviours in children adolescents, ensuring that they have the foundations for good mental health and access to effective care at point of need. This work integrates technology, co-design, prevention science, and implementation science to develop and test preventative and early intervention innovations in schools, and online, to reduce adolescents’ risk of suicide. Her research has significantly influenced suicide prevention policy and practices across Australia and beyond across education and health settings. She holds several key research leadership roles in her field, including co-Chair of the International Association for Suicide Prevention Youth Suicide Prevention Special Interest Group and is currently supported by a NHMRC Emerging Leader 2 Investigator Grant.
