Mike Edwards

Mike Edwards is a Senior Lecturer and the Programme Lead for the MSc International Security and Risk Management – Counter terrorism at the University of South Wales.

His specialisms are delivering teaching across counter-terrorism, intelligence studies, risk analysis, and hybrid warfare modules.

Mike brings over 15 years of professional experience from national security environments. His academic and applied research focuses on hybrid threats, malign influence operations, and the strategic exploitation of identity-based vulnerabilities. Ongoing research areas include nihilistic youth radicalisation, the intersection between extremism and individuals with a sexual interest in children, digital influence operations, and the use of virtual volunteers within security contexts.
