Neil Gunn

Neil leads the flood and water management hub of the WTW Research Network. The flood hub is comprised of a global portfolio of leading universities and think tanks. The team addresses client and industry needs in understanding uncertainty of water related hazards and how to adapt infrastructure to current and future perils.

Neil is Visiting Professor of Practice at Newcastle University, a chartered Engineer and Chartered Water and Environment Manager. Prior to joining WTW his initial qualification was in Agricultural Engineering. He is a member of the British Dam Society.

After spending some time teaching and practicing agriculture in Africa, Neil joined the Environment Agency where he worked for nearly 25 years. Here he undertook many roles in flood management. In particular in engineering asset management, national operational lead for reservoir safety, catchment flood mapping and strategic planning. During civil emergencies he held several roles at tactical and strategic levels.
