Patrick Devine-Wright

Patrick Devine-Wright researches the social dimensions of low carbon energy transitions, and champions the application of the social sciences to the challenge of living sustainably, through promoting cross-disciplinary work and through engaging directly with policy and civil society across the UK and internationally. Evidence of his standing in the field of energy transitions is his roles as lead author for the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in its most recent assessments and his prolific publication and inclusion in the Highly Cited Researcher lists in Social Science (2019-2022). Building on two decades of policy engagement across scales, Patrick is currently Director of the ESRC-funded ACCESS (Advancing Capacity for Climate and Environment Social Science) leadership team, where he champions the role of social science in solving environmental problems. He is Adjunct Professor, Trinity College, Dublin and Honorary Lecturer, University of Liverpool and was a Distinguished Visiting Scientist, CSIRO, Australia (2012-2013).
