Phillip M. Carter (PhD, Duke University) is a sociolinguist and scholar of language in culture, politics, and history. He has published in leading academic journals in his fields and has appeared as an expert on topics related to language, politics, and immigration on CNNEE, Telemundo, and has written for CNN.com and the Miami Herald. He is co-author of Languages in the World: How History, Culture, and Politics Shape Language. Carter is testifying expert in matters of word meaning, grammar, and semiotics.
