Pip Cohen

Pip is an environmental social scientist with expertise in equitable governance of fisheries, food systems and aquatic environments in low and middle income countries. Pip's primary research contribution has been to illuminate interactions between governance scale, social and gender equity, and distribution of fisheries goods and services for food and nutrition security. In these areas Pip's research is commonly applied and leads to adjustments in policy and practice. She has published on these topics in (for example) Nature, Global Environmental Change, World Development, Global Food Security, Ecology and Society, Ambio, Food Security, and Fish and Fisheries based on empirical research in Australia, Tonga, Timor-Leste, Solomon Islands. Pip is a Research Leader at WorldFish (an international research organisation part of the CGIAR focused on food secure futures), is a Partner Investigator for the Australian Research Council’s Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University and is an Affiliated Researcher, Centre for Marine Socio-Ecology, University of Tasmania.
