As an international lawyer from the lower Mekong region, Trung brings a unique perspective that bridges internationalism, universalism, and post-colonial thought in his work. His scholarship, published in leading academic journals, focuses on interstate conflicts and human rights. Within ASEAN, he serves as an advisor and tutor to NGOs and diplomats. In recognition of his expertise, Trung has been selected as a visiting researcher for the 2024 Centre of Research at the Hague Academy of International Law, one of the world's most prestigious institutions for international law and relations. His teaching experience spans Vietnam and Canada, where he has lectured on public international law, international relations, and comparative law.
