Rachael Gallagher

Rachael is a plant ecologist who is passionate about applying ecological principles to improve restoration and conservation. Her work focuses on the vulnerability of vegetation to human-induced threats, including climate change and invasive species, using a combination of field experiments, glasshouse manipulations and data science approaches to investigate the potential composition of vegetation in coming decades. She held an ARC DECRA Fellowship (2017-2021) and is currently Associate Professor in plant ecology and conservation at the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment at Western Sydney University. She has been a member of the Commonwealth Threatened Species Scientific Committee since 2020.
