Renee Adams

I am Professor of Finance at the University of Oxford, an Affiliate of LSE’s Financial Markets Group, Senior Fellow at the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research, and a Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute. I was formerly Professor of Finance at University of New South Wales and the Director of UNSW Business School’s Women in Leadership Network.

My work is interdisciplinary and lies at the intersection between economics, finance, management and psychology.

I am interested in group decision-making and how group identity (typically gender), information, culture, preferences and values moderate decision-making. My research can be loosely categorized as being in the area of corporate governance, because I often study these themes in the context of corporate boards. But I also explore these themes outside the governance setting, most recently in the art world.

My interest in gender diversity is not limited to research. I co-founded AFFECT, the American Finance Association’s “Academic Female Finance Committee”, in 2015, and chaired it until 2020.
