Ruby Cain

Ruby Cain is a first-year PhD student specializing in exercise interventions for individuals with Down syndrome. She holds a first-class honors degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Anglia Ruskin University, where her dissertation focused on validating lung capacity measures for people with Down syndrome. Ruby is a qualified Special Educational Needs (SEN) swimming teacher with extensive experience working with children and adults with disabilities. In addition, she serves as a qualified Academy Coach at the City of Cambridge Swimming Club, overseeing youth athlete development and running 'para' sessions that support swimmers with special educational needs and disabilities. Her brother is autistic with ADHD and this has inspired her to pursue research for under-researched population groups. Her research aims to enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of individuals with Down syndrome through inclusive sport and exercise programs.
