Sally Jones

Dr Sally Jones is a Reader in Gender and Entrepreneurship Studies and Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). She is Deputy Director of the Centre for Decent Work and Productivity, she also co-leads the Sylvia Pankhurst Gender and Diversity centre.

As well as her current roles at MMU, she is a co-founder and Chair of the Gender and Enterprise Network (GEN), an international community advancing scholarship on women's enterprise and the gendering of small enterprise. Her research interests include critical, qualitative approaches to women’s leadership, and entrepreneurship/self-employment education and training, policy, and practice. She has published widely in high impact entrepreneurship and gender journals.

Before joining academia, she was involved in community arts and business support projects, and project managed several ESF and ERDF small business, and women's business support projects. She gained a full scholarship for doctoral study 2007. After gaining her PhD in 2011, she worked at Leeds University as a Lecturer in Enterprise before moving to MMU in 2017, to take up a Readership in the Faculty of Business and Law.
