Sally S.J. Brown

Sally SJ Brown is a researcher, writer and wellness practitioner with a focus on equity and inclusion, health and wellbeing and marginalised populations. She works in Leeds Beckett University’s School of Health on research areas including obesity, health inequalities, marginalised groups and digital inclusion. Previously she was a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds. Her PhD at Leeds Beckett University examined the diversity gap in UK yoga and the barriers faced by marginalised groups. Sally is also a qualified and experienced yoga teacher specialising in accessible and community yoga and is an Accessible Yoga ambassador and former regional representative for the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY). She teaches accessible yoga in disadvantaged communities in northern England. Before her PhD Sally spent over 20 years in health promotion communications, following an earlier career in journalism. Sally received an autism diagnosis in later life and brings this lived experience to her work.
