Sam Varvastian

I work on human rights, environmental protection, and public health, with a particular focus on the impacts of climate change, plastic pollution, and biodiversity loss. My work has been cited by legislative, executive, and judicial bodies around the world, including the Parliament of Ireland Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia, and the Supreme Court of Mexico.

I am part of a consortium that was awarded contract by the Council of Europe to provide international consultancy on human rights and the environment in 2025–2029. I have also advised other international organisations and agencies, including the UN Special Procedures of the Human Rights Council and the UN Environment Programme, and various environmental and human rights non-governmental organisations.
