Sharinne Crawford

Sharinne is an Early Career Researcher in the Transition to Contemporary Parenthood Program at the Judith Lumley Centre. She is currently managing a three-year research project on 'Parental fear as a barrier to children’s independent mobility and resultant physical activity', funded by VicHealth. The project aims to explore parental attitudes to children’s independent mobility, including identifying the drivers of parental fear, and to identify strategies to promote independent mobility and incidental physical activity for Victorian children.

Sharinne has previously worked on a variety of research projects in the fields of health promotion, psychology, community health, nursing and community development. She has also tutored for several years in undergraduate health promotion units at a number of Universities.

Her research interests include exploring the role of families in promoting health and wellbeing, children’s health, health issues and community support among socially disadvantaged groups, and program evaluation research. Sharinne completed her PhD in Health Promotion, with her study focusing on the evaluation of the Ride2School program that aimed to promote active transport to school.
