Sothy Eng, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Human Development and Family Science at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He previously taught in the Comparative and International Education program at Lehigh University. His research examines how social capital shapes child development and family relationships. He developed a relationship-building framework called Critical, Empathetic, and Mindful Relations (CEMR), which focuses on improving connection in settings such as workplaces, parent–child relationships, and romantic partnerships. His writing has appeared in Psychology Today, Inside Higher Ed, and HuffPost.
