Tancredi Caruso

My research focuses on the processes that structure biodiversity across all kingdoms of life in space and time. The main focus is soil biodiversity, and I usually investigate microarthropods, nematodes, fungi, bacteria and the interactions between microbes, plants and animals, and how these interactions drive belowground (e.g. nutrient cycling) and aboveground (e.g. plant community dynamics) processes. The main focus is aboveground-belowground linkages and how terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystem functioning respond to perturbations.

I have published over 80 peer-reviewed publications and over my career secured a number of research grants in Germany and the UK from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, DFG, NERC, Royal Society, Leverhulme Trust, the EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie programme, and Invest NI.
