Tim Cowan

Dr Tim Cowan is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Southern Queensland's Centre for Applied Climate Sciences. Dr Cowan is also affiliated with the Seasonal Climate Processes team at the Bureau of Meteorology. His expertise covers climate modes of variability within the Indo-Pacific region (e.g., El Niño-Southern Oscillation, Indian Ocean Dipole), the Australian monsoon, and climate extremes. Leading the Research and Development arm of the Northern Australia Climate Program, Dr Cowan develops innovative prototype forecast products tailored for the northern red meat sector to help graziers better manage climate risks. Dr Cowan also serves as a member on the World Climate Research Programme's Regional Working Group on Asian-Australian Monsoons.
