Tizoc Chavez is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Colby College. His book, "The Diplomatic Presidency: American Foreign Policy from FDR to George H. W. Bush" (University Press of Kansas, 2022) explores the origins, development, and use of leader-to-leader diplomacy by American presidents in the 20th century. It was co-winner of the American Political Science Associations Foreign Policy Section’s Best Book Award in 2023. He has previously taught at Vanderbilt University and the United States Military Academy at West Point and been a DAAD Postdoctoral Fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He received his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt in 2016.
