Trust Chireka

Prof Chireka joined the Faculty of Management and Commerce at the University of Fort Hare on 1 February 2026, strengthening the Accounting Unit, which offers three programmes endorsed by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA): the Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, the Advanced Diploma in Accounting (ADA), and the Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA).

He has more than 16 years of experience in accounting academia, and extensive leadership and professional engagement experience. Before joining UFH, he served as Director of the School of Accountancy at the University of Limpopo, Head of Department at the University of Limpopo, Programme Coordinator for the SAICA-endorsed PGDA programme at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and Faculty Chair for Quality Assurance at Walter Sisulu University.

Prof Chireka holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Johannesburg and professional designations as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA, CIMA-UK). He is also currently pursuing a Master of Education in Higher Education Studies at the University of the Free State.
