Ushi Ghoorah

Ushi specialises in financial and service performance reporting, governance, and accountability in the not-for-profit (NFP) sector. Her work examines stakeholder perceptions of financial disclosures, the influence of board expertise, technical capacity, and resource dependency on transparency, and the relationship between governance and accountability in Australian NFPs.

Most recently, she has been the Chief Investigator on three Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB)-funded projects: Service Performance Reporting – Insights from Domestic and International Experience, Service Performance Reporting for Private Sector NFPs: An Updated Literature Review, Service Performance Reporting, and Connectivity of Financial and Non-Financial Information. Her research is published in leading academic journals, including Humanities and Social Sciences Communications and Accounting Forum, and in industry outlets such as Pro Bono Australia, Third Sector News, and The Conversation.

She serves on the AASB Standards Advisory Panel, is is Chair of the AFAANZ Public Sector and Not-for-Profit Special Interest Group, Hon Treasurer and Executive Member of ANZTSR, and a board member of the CPA NSW NFP Committee.
