Vallery Obure

Vallery Obure is a social scientist and PhD candidate with a background in anthropology and project management. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and a Master's degree in Project Planning and Management. With over a decade of experience in health research across Africa, she has led and supported multidisciplinary studies spanning study design, implementation, stakeholder engagement, qualitative and mixed-methods research, data analysis, dissemination, and the translation of evidence into policy and practice.
Her research interests include implementation science, health systems strengthening, cardiovascular health and other non-communicable diseases, sexual and reproductive health, maternal, newborn and child health, adolescent health and well-being, infectious diseases including HIV, and evidence-informed health policy.
Vallery is currently pursuing a PhD at The Open University (UK), where she is conducting a process evaluation of the CARisSA trial, a complex cardiovascular disease intervention implemented in Kenya and The Gambia. Her doctoral research draws on implementation science to examine how complex health interventions are implemented, adapted, and sustained in low-resource settings, with the goal of generating evidence to inform policy, scale-up, and health system strengthening.
Beyond her research, Vallery is passionate about mentoring early-career researchers, strengthening research capacity, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations that advance equitable health systems and improve population health across Africa.
