William Isdale is a Senior Legal Officer at the Australian Law Reform Commission, and Adjunct Fellow at the University of Queensland's School of Law.

He holds a PhD in law for a thesis about compensation for the loss or impairment of native title. A version of his PhD thesis won the Holt Prize in 2021 and will be published as a book by Federation Press in 2022.
