Yasemin Arda

Yasemin Arda holds an MSc degree in industrial engineering from Boğaziçi University (Turkey, 2001) and a DEA (Diplômes d’Études Approfondies) in industrial systems from Paul Sabatier University (France, 2003). She was awarded a doctoral grant (Allocation de Recherche) by CNRS in 2003 and carried out her doctoral studies in the CNRS research laboratory LAAS. She obtained her PhD degree in industrial systems from INSA de Toulouse (France, 2008) with a thesis entitled “Replenishment policies in multi-supplier systems and decision optimization in decentralized supply chains”. Before joining the faculty of the University of Liège in 2008, she worked as a teaching and research assistant at the Industrial Engineering Department of Boğaziçi University (2000-2002) and as a lecturer at Toulouse Business School (2005), INSA Toulouse (2004-2006), and Paul Sabatier University (2005-2006).

Yasemin Arda is currently full professor of supply chain management at HEC Liège - Management School of the University of Liège. She teaches supply chain management, operations management, and operational research at the bachelor, master, and doctoral levels. As a member of the research centre QuantOM (Quantitative methods and Operations Management - http://www.quantom.hec.ulg.ac.be), she carries out research activities in the field of operations management in collaboration with international researchers from centres like HEC Montréal, CIRRELT (Montréal), INRIA Lille, and MEF University (Turkiye) and leads research projects in related domains.

The research activities of Yasemin Arda focus on developing effective solution methodologies for challenging optimization problems arising in operations management of goods and services. She aims to contribute to theoretical and algorithmic advancements in the field of operational research while taking into account societal challenges as well as the increased efficiency concerns of organizations. She has a confirmed expertise in developing exact and heuristic algorithms, mainly for vehicle routing problems, integrated production scheduling and vehicle routing problems, healthcare operations management problems, and stochastic optimization problems.
