Yi Yang

Yi is a social epidemiologist. Her research focuses on reducing health inequalities faced by people with disability.

She is interested in quantifying inequalities in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and assessing the potential impact of policy changes in reducing these inequalities. Additionally, Yi has led studies that examined cancer inequalities among people with disability.

Her methodological expertise includes advanced causal inference and statistical approaches in epidemiology. During her PhD, Yi focused on quantifying the causal effects of population-level interventions for improving cancer and mortality outcomes. She has since applied methods such as mediational g-formula analysis to her research on disability, identifying inequalities within the NDIS (e.g., gender-based and remoteness inequalities), and modelling the impact of policy measures (e.g., enhanced support coordination) to reduce these gaps.
