Zengbo Wang

Prof. Zengbo Wang is Professor in Imaging and Laser Micromachining at Bangor University. He holds a BSc and MSc in Physics from Xiamen University and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

He has a growing research interest in medical imaging and artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, particularly in enhancing image quality, improving diagnostic reliability, and developing data-driven decision-support tools.

His broader professional experience centres on advanced imaging technologies, laser micromachining, and the integration of AI into imaging/photonic systems. He has pioneered super-resolution imaging technologies that overcome conventional optical limits, and his recent work focuses on AI-driven image reconstruction, enhancement and analysis. By combining deep learning with experimental optics and laser-based manufacturing, he develops intelligent imaging and processing systems capable of extracting high-resolution and high-sensitivity information from complex data for biomedical, healthcare, environmental and industrial applications.
