Zhaoli Liu

Zhaoli Liu is an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). Her academic background includes training in both biomedical science and nursing, along with extensive experience in pre-clinical and translational research. As a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, she brings over a decade of nursing practice across various healthcare settings, including acute care hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and skilled nursing facilities.

Since joining UTA in September 2021, she has secured both internal and external funding to support her research program. Her work focuses on rural cancer health disparities, utilizing SEER and Medicare data. She is currently conducting an NIH-funded study to examine the impact of rural hospital closures on cancer outcomes in rural areas. Her findings have highlighted an alarming widening of disparities in the cancer care continuum between rural and urban regions, as well as among minority racial and ethnic groups.
