Adrian D. Van Breda

I am a professor of social work at the University of Johannesburg. I have a Masters in clinical social work from UCT and a PhD in multicultural scale development and validation, with a focus on family resilience, from UJ. My research centres on two overlapping themes: (1) resilience (particularly social ecological resilience) of individuals, families and organisations, and (2) youth, particularly youth's transition from residential or foster care into young adulthood, with the related issues of youth employment, education, mental health, etc. I also have a strong commitment to social justice, human rights and dignity.
