Anna Taylor

Dr Anna Taylor is a senior researcher with the University of Cape Town’s African Climate and Development Initiative. Trained in human geography and environmental science, her work focuses on processes of adapting to climate risks, especially in African urban contexts. She engages transdisciplinary approaches, including practices of embedded research, working closely with government officials, civic organisations and technical consultancies to facilitate learning and knowledge co-production on climate risks and resilience. She has a strong interest in water governance and stewardship, relational agency and non-linear notions of time, as it relates to concepts of adaptive pathways. Anna teaches on two inter-disciplinary Masters programmes – Climate Change and Sustainable Development and Sustainable Urban Practice – and supervises postgraduate students researching urban climate adaptation. Anna has been supporting South Africa’s Presidential Climate Commission to operationalise a Climate Resilient Development Pathways (CRDPs) approach.
