Hafte Gebreselassie Gebrihet

Hafte Gebrihet is a researcher at the Centre for Global Sustainability, University of Oslo.

He previously held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance, University of Cape Town, and has lectured at Adigrat University, Ethiopia. His PhD from Stellenbosch University examined urban land reform in Ethiopia, contributing to debates on democratic governance, policy reform and sustainable development.

His research interests include sustainable development, poverty, gender equality, comparative politics, political economy, democratic governance, corruption, political and ethnic polarisation, food insecurity, conflict and humanitarian crises.

His work has been published in international journals including Sustainable Development, Discover Food, International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy, Politikon and Transforming Government. He has presented at international conferences and delivered guest lectures at Leiden University, Stellenbosch University and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.

He has secured competitive research funding from Transparency International, the German Academic Exchange Service, the University of Cape Town and Aksum University, and is active in professional networks including COMPETE at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and the Academy in Exile at TU Dortmund.
