James McKendry

(He/Him)

Dr. James McKendry is as Assistant Professor in Nutrition and Healthy Aging, leading his own research group, “The Muscle Aging (In)activity, and Nutrition Laboratory (The MAIN Lab).” Dr. McKendry is based in the Food, Nutrition and Health Program (Human Nutrition group) within the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia - Vancouver Campus.

Dr. McKendry’s lab uses innovative methods (stable isotope tracers and the muscle biopsy technique) and a cell-to-society approach to explore the adaptive response of human skeletal muscle to nutrition, exercise, aging, and disease. James’ research will uncover mechanisms that determine skeletal muscle mass and implement novel nutrition strategies to modify outcomes for skeletal muscle, subsequently extending the healthspan.
