Moeniera Moosa

Dr Moeniera Moosa has taught for 15 years in Primary Education and was school principal in Johannesburg. Currently she is a Lecturer in the Education Studies Division, at the Wits School of Education. She has been the Head of Teaching Experience from 2013 - 2015. She lectures in Psychology of Education at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. She completed her PhD on the “Development of a psycho-educational programme to assist adolescents to cope with aggressive peers at a secondary school” at the University of Johannesburg in 2007. Her research interests lie in aggression and bullying as well as initial teacher education. She is a member of the UNESCO chair in Teacher Education for Diversity and Development.

Research Interests:

• My research focus is with the domain of social psychology and psycho educational programme development specifically focusing on the school environment.
• I am interested in teachers, pre service teachers, learners and parents experiences and preparedness to deal with the aspect of bullying and aggression within the school context.
• Furthermore I am interested in the experiences and impact interactions with various stakeholders at schools during teaching practice have on preservice teachers.
• Related to this what are the interventions strategies and support mechanisms that pre service teachers require during initial teacher education programmes in order to be better equip when they enter the profession.
